Housing finance companies are eligible for refinance after three years, but in case of lending agencies catering to the low-income segment, the plan is to provide refinance from the first year itself. The other problem has been lack of builders for the low-income segment. To ensure sufficient availability of low-income dwelling units, NHB also plans to provide equity support to developers. A final decision on the issue will, however, be taken by the NHB board.
