The paper details the impact of housing on a country’s economy, the scenarios in South Asia and Pacific Regions, the housing conditions in Urban Asia, and the possible answers to addressing the issues of pro-poor housing. Housing is a basic need and a fundamental right of every human being. Housing provides space and shelter for households to live in privacy, security and dignity. It also provides a point of reference on which one can get other services and utilities from city fathers/administrators.
