The role of government-supported housing finance agencies in Asia. The paper examines the roles of government-supported housing finance agencies in Asia, considering five Asian economies: Hong Kong SAR, India, Japan, Korea and Malaysia. The paper concludes that, in many of the cases considered, housing agencies appear to have played a constructive role in the development of residential mortgage bond markets.
