The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has introduced amendments to Prudential Regulation HF-7 to simplify and standardize housing finance documentation requirements. Under the revised framework, banks and development finance institutions (DFIs) are required to obtain only the title and ownership-related documents specified in Annexure-B, while providing borrowers with a signed acknowledgment of the documents received. The amendments also clarify property mortgage requirements, allow an option to mark a lien in land records for financing up to PKR 5 million, and facilitate renewable-energy financing without security or against the hypothecation of installed assets. These measures aim to reduce documentation hurdles and improve access to housing finance.
