Housing Policies & Programs: Case Of Pakistan And Brief Narrations Of Some Select Asia - Pacific Countries

We do not have much academic material available, in print form or in digital form on websites in Pakistan. For the last 77 years, Pakistan have heard many political slogans and some housing programs. Much less is seen as projects on ground. In the book, the author has attempted through historical perspective, to trace some of the related materials on housing as political slogans, programs, and on the ground projects. As the country’s population density has increased, the need for housing has gone up four times, while the land area remains the same. The housing stakeholders and habitat planners, need to plan for this fast growing housing shortage. Therefore, an academic review of the housing programs of the past and present is essential to facilitate housing stakeholders in meeting this challenge. In the book, the author has traced such housing programs and reviewed their progress, either on the drawing table or for on ground execution. The objective is to facilitate the housing stakeholders, in moving forward while learning from experiences of the past.
